Half Knee (Unicondylar) Replacement

In some patients the arthritis only affects the inner aspect of the knee, leaving the rest of the knee untouched. In this situation replacing only the inner part of the knee is appropriate.

The pre-operative x-ray shows both bones (thigh & shin) touching each other on the inner aspect of the knee. The outer part of the knee is normal.

The post-operative x-ray shows a half knee (unicondylar) replacement.
